Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
